Node management

Node management describes the equipment (the nodes) Auditix works with, and how to reach it:

The menu Node management exists in two places:

  • Inside a tenant: the tenant’s own items, plus the items the platform shares with every tenant and the items of installed packages, read-only.
  • In the platform view (platform administrators): the items shared with every tenant. The page headers say so: Node management · Shared with every tenant.

Each item shows its Origin: Platform, Tenant or the package it comes from (see Overview & concepts). Items installed by a plugin are read-only everywhere and follow their package.

  1. Create the manufacturer (Extreme Networks), then its models (5520-24T), each with the control key and connection script that prepare a CLI session (Ctrl+Y, then enable and terminal more disable).
  2. Create an SNMP profile (SNMPv3 - Monitoring (authPriv)) and a CLI profile (SSH - Network operators).
  3. Combine them in a profile (Extreme Networks - Default Fabric Engine), and add what else the equipment needs: an additional credential for the web interface, custom variables for its REST API.

Or install a marketplace package that brings all of this ready-made, and only set your own credentials.

An item still used by another cannot be deleted. Auditix refuses and says why, for example:

  • “Extreme Networks” is used by 2 model(s) and 0 node(s): it cannot be deleted.
  • “SNMPv3 - Monitoring (authPriv)” is used by 1 profile(s): it cannot be deleted.

Change or delete what uses it first. The Models, Nodes and Profiles columns of the tables show how much each item is used.

Inside a tenant: Node management › Manufacturers, Models and Profiles (View, Create, Edit, Delete); the last one covers SNMP profiles, CLI profiles and profiles alike. In the platform view: Node management › Platform manufacturers, Platform models and Platform profiles. See Roles & permissions.
